The problems with Riven's map seem to be mainly related to the fact that the game can't locate the .vcd files for the logic_choreographed_scenes.

Because of this, any events that are being set in motion by a scene finishing, are not taking place.

Riven, I am not sure whether you have incorrectly bspzipped the files, or if there is some problem with having .vcd files within the bsp, as I have never tried to use them in this way myself.

It's a shame that such a small problem can break a map like this. :(

Grax, your entry is invalid, if I am understanding the rules correctly. I enjoyed your map though, if that's any consolation :D

It is indeed an error in the packing of the custom files for the map, I apologize. I will repack the files even if it doesn't count for the competition. I just want you guys to enjoy it, and I am sorry you had to fly through the map, sorry...

I did test it, but not without copies of the custom .vcds for my own, so it's like it didn't matter whether they were packed or not. I'm working on it...

[EDIT] would it bother you guyes if the files were not packed into the bsp? It would assure that they would work, cause atm, I don't have another computer to test them on... I'll get it out in the next 30 min regardless though.

It wouldn't bother me personally, and I can't see anything wrong as far as the competition rules about extra files.

However, you should leave your original download link for your map online, and see whether msleeper will allow your map to enter the competition after it is re-packaged.

Even if it is decided that your re-packaged map can't enter, you may find that some people will vote for your original map anyway, despite the problems.

You should rename it and submit it to the download database.

O.K. Here is the original Link I posted:
Old Broken Version
That one^ doesn't work, but if you download this link below, You'll get all the files and another copy of the map. So, regardless whether you download that first old link or not, This new download is all you need (should need) in order to play the map. AND, the new download will make the old one work! But for people who didn't download the old version, don't worry about it, just download this new version and it will work guaranteed (hopefully).

New Fixed Copy!

Hope this works guys, let me know if it doesn't!

Well, the map seems to "work" now, though I have only played to the first fling puzzle, and which point I fell into the toxic waste, died, and the map went black before kicking me to the portal menu.

Also, I have no Idea how you managed to make a 100mb .bsp + another 50mb of audio. You've got to have some stuff packed in there you don't need.

I'm SO Glad to hear it's working (whew!) But because I have run out of time to pak and test a new copy of the map, I simply included the old packed map + the custom files in their respective folders. So yes, you are downloading two copies of the custom sounds and vcds and that makes the download 2x larger. I'm working on it now, but I needed to get a working copy out before the deadline.

None of my play testers ever encountered a "blackout" to the menu after dying. But if that does happen, I have included an autosave system in the map, so look to load the last autosave you see.

[EDIT] O.K., I've just been informed that the autosaves don't work, and sometimes not even the quicksaves. :( This map is kinda Borked if you acidentally died. I guess put on god mode, and play through it that way and just don't cheat? I'll admit, it must be because I rushed to get it out today. I hope this doesn't ruin my chances too much :(

Riven's map is clearly the best of the lot in terms of presentation, but I have to say I liked Duffedwaffe's puzzles more. Too bad for that bug with quicksaves on riven's map, but really, it's not an hard one so you could easily do it without dying once.
Btw, props for the ending, Riven!
