wow.....this is why I am so angry. anyone that has a different opinion than the admins or *gasp* doesnt like the way things are run, must be banned.

I'll put this poltitely. I'm done being a jerk,

I don't understand why you guys treated doomsday like you did.

The way I saw it was like this:

msleeper talks to doomsday in some chat (or the other way around, doesnt matter)
doomsday mentions pestchamber, and types in the chat a little differently than most people
msleeper proceeds to taunt doomsday with "Do you love pestchamber, you keep talking about him?" or something similar
in all honesty, this "insult" reminds me of the kindergarten comeback "then why dont you marry him?"
msleeper then makes fun of doomsday for the fact that he types a little bit differently in chat than most people
then, msleeper makes a thread about it. This thread is completely devoted to their little conversation.
people laugh at it, and I think to myself "msleeper is being very childish, who cares about this?"
then msleeper asks somebody to make an avatar or something similar for doomsday. he says "the gayer the better"
doomsday now has a permanent avatar on his profile that says "swings both ways", and is obviously referring to him as an insult
This is where it crosses the line
In all honesty, I wouldnt care much if it just stayed in off topic. but when it comes to permanent harassment on the forums, where you can NEVER be respected, that is just wrong.

I don't like a forum that, at the drop of a hat, one of the admins could permanently ostracize you, just because of something you said.

and to whoever said the title should be changed to doomsday support or whatever, it's not about that. It's about that fact that, if anyone was harassed in this way, I would stand up for him. How can you guys put up with this crap? knowing that at any moment, anything you say could be taken out of context and put on your profile. its just ridiculous. admins shoud be someone you can talk to without feeling like you're walking on eggshells, someone who is knowledgeable, but not a jerk about it.

am I missing something? because I honestly dont understand how after all this, doomsday is the one being considered a baby. all he did was mention another member of the forums.

goodbye. you guys have ruined all the good memories of portal mapping for me. I regret putting any of my maps on this site, and I truly expect a childish comeback like "good, your maps sucked anyway."

oh, and thank you for stopping the Omega project. I was looking forward to it, as it was a breath of fresh air, but no.
you guys are the only site that is very active in the portal mapping community, and that is a very sad thing.

Also, welcome to the internet. Everyone picks out the smallest, most insignificant flaws in people and projects them for everyone else to see (usually in a sarcastic or roasting type humor). People like doomsday and you obviously do not have any sense of this and assume that things said on the interwebs are personal attacks against who you are. Guess what? We don't give a shit. We don't hate you, hell, we don't even know you. We go by what we are exposed to via this short-sighted and emotionless medium.

Doomsday did type very annoyingly in IRC (seperating a sentance between 8 lines with 2 words per line). Now if you were to walk into a fancy, black tie dinner wearing just shorts and a t-shirt you would expect some looks or remarks. It's no different here. The internet has an unwritten etiquette for it and when people don't follow it (even after being told what the correct etiquette is) they should expect to be given less and less leeway.

In short, easily butthurt people have no place on any forum or public discussion on the internet (except maybe some Christian ones but we all know that Jesus isn't real). If you are getting roasted you should probably figure out why and change, if not, I wouldn't return to that place anymore. Easy as that.

Oh and one more thing, I disagree with msleeper on 90% of things and I'm still here. Want to know why? Because I accept that fact and don't really care if he disagrees with me. I don't resort down to personal attacks and shrug everything off.

Cornon, look at the ban list and tell me exactly how many people are banned and why. Doomsday is not banned and will not be banned, it was his personal choice to leave and nobody "made" him go. His user rank and the thread(s) about him have nothing to do with the fact that he wasn't "walking on eggshells", it was because he habitually pissed me off and did it on purpose. I asked nicely, several times, for him to take his bitching and moaning elsewhere - but no, he continued to do so. At a certain point, I stop caring about being nice and he got me to that point.

I was even nice to you when you made a billion threads in the Mapping forum asking how you make a brush and how you save your map or whatever other BASIC shit you asked. You started to get me to that point in annoyance and you have two little friends to show for it, but you either wised up and learned stuff on your own, or found somewhere else to go piss over.

I ran across this post that Hober made in some blog about being ostracized for the way people act. Let me quote my favorite part.

I stand by what I said, because I am continually amazed at the level of literacy and etiquette shown in these forum threads.

This was brought into sharp relief today when I was linked to a site that's supposed to be some kind of social-network Web 2.0 facebook-blogger mashup clusterfuck and I found the forums were at times unreadable, because there was no barrier to entry, no sense of "You must be this intelligent to ride this ride."

This is the only forum I manage to keep up with, even though I haven't touched Hammer in a year, and even then only for a few days trying to work some tutorials.

Let me put it another way: the weeding out process at work here has worked so well that even though I don't know a lot about the actual subject matter and the nuts and bolts of mapping (and don't have much to contribute on that front), I've stayed around. The forum is that well run.

As I said, I stand by my words:
