I have to agree with youme. It was difficult for me to understand what the voice was saying without turning up my speakers. I am digging this idea though, I loved the airboat. _________________

You may have already heard this but something interesting was said about how the GLaDOS voice was made in the Portal commentary:
"Once the recording was done, we processed all of the dialog to give it an extra computery edge. Here's that same line as it appears in the game, with the pitch constrained, pitch modulation suppressed, and the formant moved up."
I noticed that your MALCom voice sounds computery already but you may be able to make it sound more authentic by fiddling with the above effects in your sound program. |

That's the problem, I'm using Dance eJay 7, which is build more for user friendlyness than features. Most of the computer-likelyness is of myself, as I have a monotone voice of myself and am quite well in producing a computer-like voice. But I'll see what I can do about the voice being ununderstandable, perhaps it's my Dutch accent that causes the problems, or perhaps my voice is simply so boring you fall asleep while listening to me...
...but that's the right thing for MALCom. He's different from GLaDOS on a few points, to start with he is rule-sick and wants everything done precisely according to the test protocols. _________________

As you might have seen I've attempted the same, but I don't completely like the result. What I'm actually doing (in photoshop) is using the clone stamp tool a lot to give certain parts the same overall colour, and then use hue/saturation to make them white-ish. Well, I'm crap with texture making anyway, so...
If you could make one, you would have my eternal gratitude, including a spot in my credits-list
What I actually invisioned: large parts of the airboat white, such as the floaters, the steering wheel and the fan, but wires, connecting tubes, pipes and such black. Much like the Portal Gun. Oh, and of course the Aperture Science logo on the sides of the floaters.
But that's my vision. You may do whatever you want. _________________

of course what you really want is for somone to re model the airboat so that its not all beat up like the HL2 one, that would be even better _________________ Fancy making a payload map?

i'm sure if you looked at the naked model of the airboat it wouldn't look THAT beat up.. i'm pretty sure it gets most of its junk look from the texture. 'coarse if you remodeled it and retextured it. it would look even more superdupercool! but. that would be a pain just retexture it. we'll be happy |

The hoverboat is dented and bumpy :/
But I can try and do it, the hoverboat texture is really really choppy so Ill have to try and figure out whats the sides of the floater things and then I think Ill make the internal stuff Grey to black with red wires, maybe use the yellow type of wires from GlaDOS, well see. |

As far as the model I'm not too concerned, the facility my map is placed is not the Enrichment Center (not the Aquatic Testing Range either, what it is and where it is remains a secret 'till you play it), and it's in a far further state of disrepair, with platforms detached from their arms, rendering them useless, open view into BTS-areas where attemtps have been made to hide it using blocks of metal...
Next to that, the ASLTA is, of course, a prototype device, meaning that it not necesarily has to have a complete hull. Maybe parts were removed to repair certain other parts, and not placed back later...
I'm not spoiling too much about the map, am I?
Don't worry about the quality, I'll get a mark for this from my school (I think I first have to let my teacher play the original Portal, the first few rooms of my map are introduction rooms which repeat the three basics but they can still be tricky if you don't know those techniques), so I have to come up with something decent.
BTW, the Three Basic Portal Techniques, as stated in the test protocols and far as MALCom is concerned, are:
-Box (And other physics objects);
-Fling (And other Portal acrobatics);
-Orb (And other Portal-traversing projectiles). _________________
