| As long as it runs in the Portal engine, i'd say it's fair game. |

I don't know why this community is so hostile towards any map for Portal that doesn't use the portalgun...
pestchamber: if you make this map prepare to be shunned. |

Seems pretty clear to me. _________________

Well, you don't need the portal gun, actually. There are a dozen of other ways to make an interesting map. (Autoportals. Both automatic or on the press of a button. Decreased freedom in placing your portals, increased challenge.) _________________

I'm locking this thread. Surf maps belong in CSS with the rest of the bullshit, if you want to make a Portal surf map then go post somewhere else. Thanks.
EDIT Actually let me put this idea down a little bit more - Surf maps are an excuse for untalanted, unskilled, immature people who stumbled upon the SDK tools and want to map because the idea sounds neat, and instead of taking the time, effort, and dedication it takes to create a quality map, they put together some ugly wedges floating in a huge skybox and call it contributing to the community. It's not, it's a waste of everyone's time and the only people who think that surf maps require any fucking skill to create are the same 13 year olds who made them in the first place. The only reason surf maps are popular at all is because it brought some fresh insight to an otherwise deathly stagnant Counter-Strike community.
We're not Counter-Strike, surf maps do not require any skill to "make" or any skill to "play". _________________
