Would Portal TFC be cool?

Anyone dying that way gives you a point. *shrugs* Maybe not. :P

Simply have a gratuitous meat grinder off in a corner of the map. If you want to be able to drop people into it, just run over there and drop a portal there and then go nuts. No need for a special game mode.

How about if your portals can only remain open for a couple of seconds (say 20 seconds), and they immediately close when you die?

I think if you die, the portal gun drops, and anyone that picks it up then sees your portals.

This might be interesting if there were a smaller number of portal guns, otherwise no one would pick it up. (Except engineers ... if they were in the game).

I'm actually trying to put together some cooperative multiplayer maps. It's for a movie I'm writing about a "Corporate Retreat" that goes horribly wrong ...

My first cut will be a few extra buttons on the standard maps, so that you can't just bypass box dropping by having a friend stand on the button.

read post on steam forums i made (i'm k2pek2 there)
: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/s ... p?t=647658
also, i just had another idea, it would be really cool if you could add like some behind the scenes action somehow in your map, you know like when you escape? and you could have that only reachable from like breaking glass with a rocket, only it has to be difficult to perform because its kinda an easter egg/huge advantage. perhaps you could do rooms like that with like extra turrets like i mentioned in the steam forums.

Easter Eggs in maps would indeed be nice...

But I think your post is rather off-topic here, we're talking about Portal Capture-The-Flag.

yes, i know what you are talking about, and i'm saying that easter eggs added in the map that are like little passageways to the other team's base that are easier than the normal way, or a small room that contains an item that can help your team. go read the really big block of text that i wrote (that i got yelled at for writing, but hey, ideas are ideas) in the link to the steam forums i posted above, and you may have a better idea of what i'm talking about. i guess i'm saying that it would be more fun if there were multiple routes to the other team's base; there would be one large test chamber like route, and two smaller escape looking routes.

Ah, okay, I'm sorry, won't yell "you spam!" that quickly again in the future.

Hmm, indeed, some kind of shortcut would be nice, the only problem is that, once they get known, everyone's gonna use them, so they also need to be balanced in some way.

yeah i prolly shouldn't have cross posted because of massive confusion, but i was far too lazy to copy and paste what i wrote =P

i'll try to get what i'm saying explained better next time as well

the passageways wouldn't be really easter eggs because they would be found so fast, they would just be parts of the maps. it would be better to require a team to complete a puzzle though, before they may use what the behind the scenes places contain. the whole point of the behind the scenes thing would be to add game play to the map as well as give the maps the ever-so-needed portal feel to them.

also, another game play style would be like the dustbowl map from TFC, where one team attacks and tries to move their flag to the next capture point, and one team defends and tries to stop the other team.
